Dreams: A Kingdom Perspective

Dreams are a beautiful gift from God. They inspire us, push us forward, and give us a glimpse of what could be. But as believers, our dreams are not just personal ambitions—they are tied to the divine purpose God has for us. To step into the fullness of these God-given dreams, we must first let go of the old self, release our ego and pride, trust in God’s provision, and embrace the Kingdom life.

Letting the Old Self Die

The Bible reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” To truly live out the dreams God has placed in our hearts, we must let the old self die. This means releasing old mindsets, sinful habits, and anything that keeps us tied to our past. We cannot step into God’s newness while still clinging to the weight of who we used to be.

Letting Go of Ego and Pride

Pride can be one of the greatest hindrances to our dreams. It tempts us to believe we are self-sufficient, that we don’t need God’s guidance, or that we must build our dreams on our own strength. Proverbs 16:18 warns, “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.” When we surrender our ego and allow God to lead, we step into a place of humility where He can truly work in our lives. Our dreams then become a testimony of His power, not our own abilities.

Trusting God’s Provision

Many people abandon their dreams out of fear—fear of failure, lack, or uncertainty. But as Kingdom citizens, we must remember that God is our provider. Philippians 4:19 declares, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” When we trust in God’s provision, we stop striving in our own strength and begin to rest in His divine supply. He opens doors no man can shut and makes a way where there seems to be none.

Embracing the Kingdom Life

Living out our dreams in alignment with God’s will is not just about personal success—it’s about advancing His Kingdom. Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” When we prioritize God’s Kingdom, He ensures that everything else falls into place. Our dreams then become a platform to glorify Him, to serve others, and to bring light to the world.

Final Thoughts

As you pursue the dreams God has placed in your heart, remember that it’s not just about the destination—it’s about the transformation along the way. Let your old self die, lay down your pride, trust in God’s provision, and walk boldly in the Kingdom life. When you do, you’ll find that your dreams are not just your own—they are a divine calling, orchestrated by the Creator Himself.
